Wanted: practically-minded people with a flair for simple ingenuity

Remap is a very special charity, working through a nationwide network of volunteers who have the ingenuity and skills to enable people with disabilities to achieve much-desired independence.

We have 87 panels, or local groups, across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, while our sister charity, Remap (Scotland) has 14 panels. All of them need more people to work on projects and provide administrative and marketing support.

The work is interesting and varied; it can be challenging, and it is always rewarding. And while you would do much of the work in your own home, you are very much part of a team whose other members will support and help you.

'We all enjoy using our skills to help people do the things they very much want to do.  But it's not just fun, it's a privilege.'  Peter Hodson Harrogate & Ripon panel.

People we need include:

  • Engineers and technicians
  • Craftsmen such as woodworkers and metalsmiths
  • People skilled in electronics and electrics
  • Keen modelmakers
  • People with other 'softer' skills such as upholstery
  • People with health professional knowledge such as occupational therapists or physiotherapists
  • People with specific assistive technology experience
  • Product designers
  • Competent DIYers
  • Good organisers
  • People with administrative, secretarial and computer skills
  • People with PR and photography skills

If you fit into any of these categories, no volunteering opportunity will give you greater satisfaction. For more information email volunteer@remap.org.uk or go to the panel contacts page on this website to contact your local panel directly.
