Wheelchair to pram or pushchair adaptation
7th January 2025

Model car remote control adaptation
2nd January 2025
On a holiday a few years ago, Leon watched a family member having fun with a high speed remote control model car and really wanted to have a go!
However, Leon has damage to his spinal cord, which results in paralysis from the chest down and whilst he can move his arms, he has little or no control over his hand or fingers.
This means that Leon cannot use any of the standard types of remote control supplied with model cars. So, to achieve his dream, he realised that a bespoke controller which could be used with his limited range of arm movements and dexterity would be required.
Leon reached out directly to REMAP for help.

Comfort adaptation for child potty training
9th August 2024
Being comfortable is always desirable.
However, when you are a parent and trying to potty train your child, the comfort of the child becomes essential to the successful outcome.
Whilst the majority of children’s potty seats are made from rigid materials, the pain experienced by the client’s daughter during potty training meant that none of the commercial products were comfortable enough.
Bicycle handlebar adaptation
7th August 2024
The client is a keen cyclist and would like to take part in the coast 2 coast cycle ride for charity. However, her left hand stops at the wrist making it difficult to hold onto the handlebars, especially when rising out of the seat for uphill climbs. The client had tried various strap-on arm attachments but did not feel safe as they left her attached to the bicycle in the event of a fall. She wanted a way of holding the handlebar more securely but with the ability to let go quickly in the event of a crash or fall.
Shower chair comfort and safety modifications
30th April 2024
The client has a form of Cerebral Palsy called FOXG1 which results in regular random movements of the arms and legs. Although showering is carried out in a specially designed shower chair, the hard surfaces of the shower chair often result in significant bruising. The chair required several modifications to prevent bruising from the arm rests, side supports, chair frame, control levers and foot rest.

Wheelchair Boccia Ball Holder
3rd November 2022
The client needed a tray/holder for boccia balls mounting to his wheelchair. This needed to involve no permanent modifications/damage to the wheelchair and needed to be removable when not in use. Ideally this should also be cheap to produce and repeatable.
