Spade holder

Spade holderThis man could not grip a spade handle to dig his garden.

A device was made where the spade slides in a ‘hook’ attached to a modified leg caliper, which is strapped to the wrist (which is strong enough to support it).

He can now dig his garden.

Bra doing-up device

Bra doing-up device 1 Bra doing-up device 2This lady is severely arthritic and found it difficult to do up the hooks and eyes whilst the bra is in tension.

One end is gripped by a bag sealer on the plate. The bra is then threaded around the waist and the other end held by the other bag sealer. The hooks and eyes section is then free to do up whilst the bra is held in place. When the hooks and eyes are done up, the device is removed.

The client has now gained her independence.

Artist’s motorised easel

Artist's motorised easelThis wheelchair using artist with restricted movement of hands wished to be more independent.

A 12V battery was used to drive the ex-windscreen wiper and window winder motors for up/down movement and rotation.  The counterbalanced easel can be raised, lowered and/or rotated by two large rocker switches located alongside the artist.  Very little manual effort is required to move the rolling frame laterally.  The artist has just enough grasp to manipulate his brushes gripped in a special holder.

The client can now reposition the canvas himself, work on much larger portraits and has greatly speeded up his output.
