Marina House Boat Handrail

The challenge was to install a strong, salt water resistant, bespoke handrail that allowed the man to safety board his house boat, while conforming to the marina restrictions.

Kool Stride Buggy Foot Plate Extension

The Kool Stride buggy needed modifying to safely allow the growing child.  The child’s legs extended beyond the factory-fitted foot plate, exposing the child to risk of trapping their feet.

Wheelchair table

The client required a wheelchair table for a narrower than standard wheelchair.

Standing aid for child

Standing aid for childA young wheelchair user wanted to stand in order to throw a basketball in to a hoop.

A frame was mounted on a platform, painted in the boys favourite team colours. This supported him well enough for him to feel that he was upright and secure.

The young client can practise his shooting and imagine that he is a budding basketball star.

Powered buggy adaptation

Powered buggy adaptationThe client is unable to sit on a standard buggy and required it to be modified to take a kneeler chair.

This necessitated the batteries being repositioned in order to make room in the footwell. A panel member reversed the positions of the battery and footwells and fitted the kneeler.

Whereas the client had been unable to use her scooter, Remap engineers adapted it in such a way that she now enjoys the considerable benefits of being independently mobile.

Low level mobile tray

Low lever mobile trayA young female athlete was struck down with an illness at the height of her ability. Her disability means that on some days she is unable to stand and has great difficulty in transporting drinks and food from the kitchen to the dining room or lounge.

Remap was able to make a simple modification to a hostess trolley to reduce its height to a more convenient one for her to eat from whilst seated in the lounge after she has loaded it in the kitchen.

Being a very independent and determined lady, she is glad to be able to maintain her independence without worrying about spilling hot food whilst in transit.

Child’s trike steering adaptation

Child's trike steering adaptationA young client was very keen to cycle but was unable to steer his trike as he is missing his left hand.

The solution (which the engineer has patented) was to remove the handlebars and replace them with a small wheel which has a knob on the top, like an old fashioned steam roller, enabling it to be steered with one hand. However to reduce the strain, the engineer enabled a 9:1 gear reduction by placing the mechanism of an electric screwdriver inside the pillar and connecting it to the steering wheel.

The young client has mastered the trike and is now fully able to participate in nursery activities.

Chair and work desk

Chair and work deskA young client required a supporting chair complete with a ‘desk’ that could be moved into position.

A panel member constructed the chair and desk as shown in the photograph.

The little girl is now able to join in with her peers and be included in the group’s skills development activities.
