The patient could not stand things touching her calves due to a skin condition. This meant that she could not use her recliner as the footrest came up and aggravated her skin.

The solution

I removed the footrest and replaced it with a bent chrome pipe, held to the chair with hooked roofing bolts and added pipe lagging covered in sticky back vinyl for the patient’s feet to rest upon.

Update

The patient complained that the pipe insluation was to firm so I swapped it for a pad made from plywood and foam

The benefit

The patient can now use her recliner comfortably.
