Client is 18 years old with learning difficulties and uses a profiling bed with a wired controller. His carers need a method to prevent him from misusing the controller.

The solution

It was decided that the simplest solution was to unplug the controller when not in use. The trailing lead of the controller plugs into the actuator beneath the bed where is it difficult to reach by the carers. An extension lead was made that brought the socket into which the lead plugged, to the edge of the bed, where it is easy to reach.

The benefit

The carers can easily unplug the controller when not in use.
