Customised toilet frame

Customised toilet frameMark is a large man – 6’ 5” and 16 stone – and had difficulty, because of his height, in transferring himself from his wheelchair to the toilet that was positioned on a 100mm plinth. His elderly mother was having increasing difficulty helping him do this. He needed a toilet frame that would withstand his weight landing heavily on it.

Social Services provided a toilet frame that Remap decided could be modified to suit. It was necessary to shorten the vertical arms near the cistern and lengthen the horizontal arms in order to clear the toilet pedestal where two new stiffening cross members were positioned. The exercise required high quality aluminium welding which a local firm was kind enough to provide.

Mark is now able to transfer to the toilet with confidence, with less assistance from his mother.
