Finger Support for independent Wheelchair operation
Our client had difficulty operating the standard control knob on his wheelchair, due to a muscular/nerve condition. He needed some extra help to be able to move the control knob in an easier and safer manner.
The solution
A finger support was created from a standard plastic plumbing T-joint fitting. The tube was shaped to fit the control knob of the wheelchair smoothed off to ensure no sharp edges for the finger inserted into the control section of the adaptor. Once completed, a felt insert was attached to give cushioning to the finger during operation.
The benefit
Our client is now able to readily operate the wheelchair with extra control and safety. This gives him increased confidence and greater independence
