Four Wheeled Walker Brakes
Our client needs to use a 4 wheeled walker to walk outside, but she also has bad arthritis in her hands and is unable to muster the strength to apply the brakes. Consequently, she was effectively house bound.
The solution
To help her become more independent we modified the brakes so that the required force was reduced. This was achieved by increasing the mechanical advantage and also reducing the force required to apply the brakes by roughly 70%.
The benefit
The client can now operate the brakes easily and is able to go out of the house. It should also be noted that the modification does not prevent the walker from being folded up so it can also go in the car.
