ADAPTED Garden chair
This client is an amputee who uses a mobility scooter and struggled to transfer into a garden chair to sit outside with his family. He needed a solution which would allow him to transfer independently, recline and elevate his leg.
The Challenge
Our client wanted to sit in the garden with his family. He wanted to be able to transfer to a garden chair from his mobility scooter independently. Plus he needed to lean back and keep his leg elevated so the back of the chair needed to recline.
The solution
I made a taller than normal garden chair with only one arm plus a backrest that could recline to 6 set positions which the client could adjust whilst sitting in the chair.
The benefit
The client can now transfer easily to the chair independently and adjust the backrest to a suitable angle to enjoy sunny afternoons in the garden with his family.
