Inserts for wheelchair tray
A wheelchair using client with multiple sclerosis has poor grip and shaking hands and was unable to feed self unless plates and bowls were positioned at functional height and stabilised to avoid spillage.
MDF was used to make a tray to fit over the existing wheelchair tray with blocks and clips to secure. The tray is shaped to fit client’s abdomen and has a cut-out section to take largest plate used, this in turn has inserts for various shaped plates and bowls and a separate section for a mug.
The tray supports the client’s arms. Plates and bowls are accessible and stable. Client is able to feed independently. A drainer rack has also been made to support the tray once washed after meals.
