Kool Stride Buggy Foot Plate Extension
The Kool Stride buggy needed modifying to safely allow the growing child. The child’s legs extended beyond the factory-fitted foot plate, exposing the child to risk of trapping their feet.
The solution
The existing footplate was removed and a new one constructed from folded aluminium sheet plus a 3-D printed wheel covering that were bolted to the buggy frame. It took a couple of attempts to get the length right for the child’s legs and feet. This is fixed and not adjustable.
The benefit
While the buggy was still strong enough to be used with the child at their current age the front wheel presented an injury hazard. The new footplate / wheel covering has made it safe again.
