Lightweight secateurs

This lady has very little strength in her arms and hands. She could not use secateurs as they were too heavy and she did not have the strength to squeeze them and make them cut.

A pair of lightweight secateurs were purchased and fixed to the end of a length of plastic curtain rail. A length of cord ran over a jockey pulley from a lever mounted on the plastic curtain rail to the unsecured secateur arm. The lady could jam this arrangement between her body and arm to position the secateurs on the plant. She could then operate the lever to prune and cut with minimum effort.

The client can now carry on and enjoy her gardening much more.
