Jim Hollom of the North East Essex panel has a client who has rheumatoid arthritis and is having difficulty opening her Mini car door as it is a squeezing action.

Jim wonders if anyone has come across this problem and if so would be grateful to know about any solution they have devised. Please post ideas below or reply direct to Jim at jhollom@btinternet.com.

  1. Dick Lucy says:

I suggest a piece of shaped steel rod within a plastic pipe to avoid scratching, that can be slid between the door and the latch and pulled back, thus releasing the latch. The shape of the steel rod will need to be tried and altered until it is the right shape.
