Rollator carrier for electric chair
The challenge was to construct a bracket to hold a three wheeled Rollator onto a electric chair so the client could access smaller shops that his chair would not fit into.
The solution
The solution was to bold a bracket from square and round steel tube. The chair had a square fitting under the seat that would accept a 25mm tube, this fitting had a nut welded on to allow the tube to be locked in place. I made a hard board pattern of the mounting pins for the Rollator and then used some 25mm round tube, bent at each end, and welded in the middle at an angle to mount the Rollator. I made some over-centre clips to stop the Rollator dropping off the rack and some discs to stop it going on too far. The clips drop level for mounting and lift up 90 degrees to lock in place (painted red for ease of sight).
The benefit
The carrier is not only helping the client to access smaller shops, it is also enabling him to maintain his independence and allowing him to socialise more freely.

I’m the client and I couldn’t be more pleased with the work Nigel has done. The bracket holding my rollator has enabled me to gain access to the smaller shops where using a mobile scooter wouldn’t be viable. Nigel is worth his weight in gold, he’s been a real treat to deal with. P.S. I hope this idea hasn’t given him too much work to do!
