End user has severe Cerebral Palsy and finds fine motor control such as holding and pulling a trigger on a Scalextric controller impossible. User was effectively excluded from playing with this toy.

The solution

A device was designed and manufactured which fits onto the controller and convert the method of operation from a trigger to a large lever, which is something that the End User is capable of doing. A simple push button system was considered originally, however a button would drive the car at a fixed speed, the lever mechanism retains the ability to control the speed of the car.

Device was mounted to the users tray using a Manfrotto clamp

A more cost effective, and attractive, 3D printed version of this adaptor is currently in development and a link to the files on Thingiverse will be published here in due course

The benefit

The end user was able to access and enjoy playing the car racing game with his family
