School Lunch Tray
The young person with the use of only one hand & arm wished to participate in School lunches unaided and this meant being able to carry a fully loaded standard issue lunch tray. These trays have profiled ends that make it impossible to add simple carry straps so a modification that was compatible with the kitchen cleaning system was needed.
The solution
An experiment with “Supermarket” basket handles failed as these got in the way and would have made cleaning difficult. After an initial prototype central knob we settled on an acrylic handle designed to be bolted to the centre of the tray as a bridge, such that the central compartment for cutlery was unaffected.
The benefit
The young person is now fully independent at School meal times.
