Shower chair footrest
The standard footrests of John’s showerchair made it difficult to manoeuvre around the narrow doors and landing of his home. Removing them make the chair both narrower and shorter, but meant that the only way of moving about was to proceed backwards, dragging his legs, which was both slow and cumbersome.
The solution
The new footrest supports the legs while not significantly increasing the footprint of the chair. The footrest is hinged so that it can be folded out of the way when getting in or out of the chair using a transfer board.
The benefit
The result is a more compact chair to drive around his restricted landing and doorways.
