Suggestions Please
Jack Rae from Carlisle has asked for help with the following, please contact Jack directly:
Client is ex-military paraplegic confined to a manual wheelchair.
He is keen to mow his own lawns, one flat and the other with a slight slope.
He owns a mains powered Flymo lawnmower and would like a means of being able to operate it from his wheelchair.
One possibility would be to provide an attachment device such that the Flymo is coupled to the front of his wheelchair such that, as he wheeled himself around, the lawnmower would do its business. However such lawnmowers use “two-hand” safety switches which would then make it impossible for the client to move his chair whilst the lawnmower was running.
Simply over-riding these safety devices is not an option. So some alternative method of activating motor power controls would be required.
Have any other groups tackled a similar problem or have suggestions as to how the client’s requirement may be met
Please contact me either at 01387380010 or kilncroft@hotmail.com
Kind regards
Jack Rae
