Tape recorder interface unit

Tape recorder interface unitA blind lady with multiple sclerosis who is having singing lessons needs to operate a twin track tape recorder. She does not have the strength to lift her hands and press the control buttons on the recorder.

The interface unit has a tray to accept and locate the recorder and five flap switches to control the recorder. These switches can be operated by sliding the hand against them without raising it. The push buttons on the recorder itself are depressed by five small servo-mechanisms which respond to the signals generated by the flap switches.

The client is now able to practice her singing and operate the recorder herself.

Note: This type of flap switch may be of use on other projects for clients who cannot raise their hands.
