Voice commands for motorised bed

Ian Mercer, a new member of the South Herts panel writes:

 

“Recently I was asked to visit a client who wanted to control a motorised bed using voice commands and, after some investigations, we found that the original NHS organisation who had previously provided some equipment should be able to assist so there is (currently) no more to be done.

 

I did begin to find out about voice controlling things and I became aware that this could become quite complex and that it would be helpful to discuss things with other electronics engineers. In particular, how might we assess items to make sure they are safe, reliable, do not cause interference etc in the same way as they would be if covered by the directives that apply to commercial products”
