Wheelchair footrest holders
In order to take the client out of the wheelchair, the horizontal foot rest needs to be pivoted to a vertical position, and held there by a carer during transfer, as the manufacturer has made no provision for holding it in the vertical position.
The solution
Use of Velcro tape provided a solution. Aluminium plates were screwed to existing brackets on either side of the chair frame. They were used to clamp short strips of cloth-backed tape which were then wrapped around the sides of the vertical foot rest and meshed with a wider strip of adhesive-backed tape across the underside of the foot rest.
