Wheelchair for marathon
We have received the following request for help, if anyone can help please leave a comment below.
To whom it may concern
My name is Jadey Yesilada. I am the Disability Ambassador for Albion in the Community (AITC), the charitable arm of Brighton and Hove Albion FC. I have worked with AITC recently to create a fundraising appeal called Jadey’s Dream. We are raising money to help promote Disability awareness and give disabled people the opportunity to take part in sport.
More details of the appeal can be found here: http://albioninthecommunity.org.uk/disability/jadeys-dream
I am going to be taking part in a number of sporting challenges over the next few months to help raise money for the appeal and to generate awareness around disability sport. One of these challenges is to take part in the half marathon and the full marathon in Brighton next year. I am looking for a wheelchair that is light enough for me to use to allow someone to run with me in the marathon. I believe there is a adapted chair that people use for this type of thing and I was wondering if you had anything that I could possibly borrow for this event? Or know of anywhere I could contact. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks
Jadey Yesilada

RemapNI recently had an enquiry on this topic. We researched widely, but found that the only source for these specialist vehicles is in the United States. The man, who eventually bought the vehicle for himself, authorised me to pass on his contact details: David Kerr
Hope this helps.

Try asking the British Wheelchair Racing Association? http://www.bwra.co.uk/
http://www.rdksportswheelchairs.co.uk/ are the main supplier of sports wheelchairs in the UK – have they got anything suitable?
