E-reader control

Sue is an avid reader but could not turn the pages of a book as a result of multiple sclerosis. She wanted to use a Sony e-reader instead, but that also has buttons you have to press, which she could not manage.

Harry Kirby and Brian Unitt, volunteers with Remap North Herts took on the project and developed a special mouthpiece, fed with a constant stream of air at low pressure. The mouthpiece includes two holes where the air gently escapes. By moving her tongue over one or other hole, Sue can activate a switch which turns the page on her e-reader.
