Maurice Elliot MBE

Maurice Elliot, a volunteer with Remap, was recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours and was invested with the honour MBE on 9th October 2015.  The honour was given in recognition of his services to disabled people.

Maurice joined Remap’s local group or “panel” in Derby back in 1997 and has made an enormous contribution since.  He soon became chair of the group and set about promoting it and finding more volunteers.  Talks to local organisations have been one element of his successful approach and about 25 new people have joined Remap as a result of his inspiring presentations. Maurice also started a new group in Sheffield, served three years on the national Trustee Board and is a great advocate for the charity.
