Remap supports sewing enthusiast Patricia

Patricia embroidery2Patricia has a spinal deformity that is worsening, despite her specially moulded wheelchair. In order to sew she had to clasp an embroidery hoop between her chest and right hand and twist her trunk to reach the sewing with her left hand. The wheelchair service was concerned that sewing in this position was making her posture even worse.

Remap Bournemouth has designed a clamp to attach the embroidery hoop to Patricia’s wheelchair via a special mechanism that holds it in front of her and allows her to turn it over to access both sides of the embroidery.  She can resume her hobby in a much better position.

The original clamp design by Huw Thomas of Remap Leicestershire was adapted to fit Patricia’s wheelchair via a captive twist-and-push bayonet mechanism by John Garnish, a volunteer with Remap Bournemouth.
