Support Anna as she treks for Remap!
Our thanks go to Anna Monk, a neuroscience researcher, who is trekking across the roof of the world in aid of Remap. Anna has always enjoyed hiking but this 13 day challenge will be her biggest walking trip so far! The trek includes an ascent of the Gokyo Ri pass (5400m) for a view of Everest!
Anna has generously paid for the whole trip herself, so every penny donated through her Just Giving page will benefit the work of Remap.
Starting on 1st October, Anna’s trek starts at Lukla in Nepal. Stops along the way include Namche, Phortse Tenga, Dole and Machhermo before reaching the beautiful valley of Gokyo. A memorable part of the trek should be the ascent of the Gokyo Ri pass (5400m) for a view of Everest, Cho Oyu and other peaks!
Anna has been training hard to be fit and able to cope with the high altitude walking. She says:
“I have grown up watching my father as a professional engineer, who brought his inventive skills home to make equipment for Remap as a volunteer; I am aware of the difference his work has made. These can be often simple but highly ingenious devices that can really change how someone lives. It is an organisation so deserving of donations, so I do hope to be helpful in being able to give a (hopefully) sizable amount!”
Please support Anna and visit her Just Giving page.
Anna is travelling with World Expeditions, a company which advocates sustainable small group trekking, with minimal impact on the local environment, and employs only local leaders. Their Foundation aims to fund education based projects in underprivileged communities across the globe.
