Carol’s Custom Exercise Solution

When Carol struggled to use her pedal exerciser safely, she turned to REMAP for help. With limited mobility and a need for a practical, space-saving solution, she was connected to Hugh, one of our skilled engineers. Carol explains how Hugh’s thoughtful modifications have made a difference.

Carol reached out to REMAP with the following referral:

“I have Multiple Sclerosis with very poor mobility and balance, and I walk with a rollator indoors.

“I purchased a second-hand powered pedal machine to help me exercise and improve my circulation. However, the foot straps are bent out of shape and I struggle to get my feet in safely without tipping the machine (and myself). I also have limited space to store it and need a way to move it into a place I can use it, near a power point.

“I wondered if it’s possible to adapt the foot straps for easier use and even a way of moving it more easily when I want to use it?”

Carol was connected with our Bournemouth & District branch, where Engineer Hugh made several thoughtful modifications to her pedal machine. He adapted the foot straps to ensure greater safety and stability, and he designed a mechanism that allows Carol to easily move the machine under her table when it’s not in use. Going the extra mile, Hugh also mounted her power bank to the side of her table, keeping it conveniently accessible yet out of the way.

Carol says:
