Reclaiming a Hobby for a Talented Client

How one of REMAP’s custom solutions has made photography accessible once again.

Our client, Val*, lives with a progressive condition that causes weakness in her arms, hands, and fingers. This affects many areas of her life, such as washing, dressing, eating and food prep.

Over time, this also began to affect one of her passions—photography. Without the strength to push the shutter button on her digital camera, Val faced the difficult reality of putting her beloved hobby aside.

But that’s where we stepped in.

One of the brilliant engineers from our Oxfordshire branch designed an ingenious adaptation: a custom camera sensor with a lead to the sensor cradle, so no force is required to take a photo.

With this personalised solution, Val was able to pick up her camera again—which has made a huge difference to her.
