Ann’s Head Pointer

For years, Ann has relied on a makeshift head pointer to use her computer. Now, thanks to one of our dedicated volunteers, she finally has a custom-designed tool made just for her.

Ann has athetoid cerebral palsy and needs assistance with most aspects of daily life,. This includes all personal care, feeding, domestic chores and daily living activities.

She reached out to REMAP to request a head pointer which will enable her to type more easily, and was paired with our volunteer, John, who custom-made her a solution.

Ann says:

“I am absolutely delighted with the head-pointer John has made for me. It’s so much better than the makeshift one I’ve been using for the last few years. It’s so much easier to type and my speed has increased significantly.

I’ve always typed long emails and messages to friends and family, but this week they’ve been even longer since I’ve had the new head-pointer! It’s also so much easier for my husband and carers to put on me and adjust.

I really am thrilled to bits with it, I just wish I’d asked REMAP to make me one when I first started using a head-pointer a few years ago!
