How REMAP Helped David Adapt His Mobility Aids

Our client, David, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis almost 25 years ago, explains how REMAP volunteer, Jeremy from the leicestershire panel, has recently assisted him with two Solutions.

I contacted REMAP last year as I was using a four-wheeled rollator to get around our bungalow but I was constantly breaking them.

A REMAP volunteer engineer named Jeremy came to visit me and assess my needs. I purchased a new walker, so he fitted a strong strengthening bar across the middle which made it completely solid. When it was delivered back to me it was found that the wheels were in the wrong position, so Jeremy took it back and repositioned the wheels. When he brought it back again, it was absolutely perfect. It helped me so much and was very much appreciated.

A few weeks ago, I tried to connect two leg lifters together to help me get my legs into bed. It worked fine for a time, but I really needed a well-made one that was joined together properly.

That’s when I decided to contact REMAP again to see if they would be able to help. Jeremy came back to discuss my needs and took the new leg lifters away. He connected them with a solid strengthening bar between the two and securely bolted them together. Again, the job was turned around so quickly and returned to me within a few days.

REMAP have really helped me out with adapting my disability equipment. They are a fantastic charity, and nothing seemed too much trouble for their volunteers. I am so grateful for all their help and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing adaptations to their aids.
