New REMAP branch launches to support disabled people in Southwest London
A new branch of national disability charity REMAP has launched to provide custom-made equipment for disabled people across Richmond, Kingston and New Malden—free of charge.
The new Southwest Greater London REMAP branch brings together a team of volunteer engineers, makers and occupational therapists who will design and build unique aids and equipment for people experiencing disability when no commercial solution exists.
“Many people are held back by everyday challenges that can be solved with a bit of clever thinking and practical engineering. That’s what REMAP does,” said Branch Chair Peter Cattermole. “We’re excited to bring our service to people in Southwest London so they can live more independently and do the things they love.”
The branch is now open for referrals from individuals, carers, NHS teams and disability organisations. The team also invites new volunteers with engineering, woodworking, electronics, design or practical skills to join the mission.
