Happy Volunteers’ Week 2024!
This Volunteers’ Week we’re celebrating our amazing volunteers who help make life better for disabled people across the UK!
These are some of the reasons why our skilled volunteers give their time to REMAP:
“I volunteered since I liked the ethos of the charity. I like seeing the engineers making items that have made the client’s life easier or more independent.”
“Taking on solving problems and making solutions for disabled people has enabled me to put my skills and knowledge to good use and thus continue my enjoyment, added to which is great personal satisfaction of helping others.”
“In addition to the satisfaction from meeting our clients (who are usually delightful people who are grateful for our efforts) REMAP membership gives me the opportunity to meet other members (who are also delightful) and an excuse to escape to the shed!”
“Even the simpler jobs are so clever and can make such a huge difference to the clients. I can’t single out any particular items over the past 30 years as there have been so many – around 1600 jobs so far. I hope I can carry on being a REMAP volunteer for a long time yet.”
“I found REMAP, where I can apply my skills, learn new skills and grow. Moreover, I liked the concept of helping disabled people in a way that they want. I believe this is where real engineering comes into play.”
“I have done several projects for children and the look on their faces when they try their new aid is priceless!”
“I like being involved with REMAP as I can see the valuable work all the staff do, and being able to use some of my old skills and experiences to assist folk is very rewarding.”
