How a simple REMAP solution has made daily life easier and more comfortable for our client, Henry, and his wife, Eve.

Henry and his wife, Eve, were facing a daily struggle that many people can relate to — getting up from their favourite sofa. Their two-seater was simply too low, making it difficult and uncomfortable to stand, especially for Henry, who is tall and living with Alzheimer’s and recent heart failure. For him, comfort and accessibility aren’t just preferences — they’re essential.

Their Community Care Officer, who had worked with REMAP before, knew exactly where to turn. She referred them to us after discovering there were no commercial sofa raisers that would work with the sofa’s metal feet.

That’s where Mike, our talented volunteer engineer from REMAP’s Hertfordshire South branch, stepped in.

Mike carefully assessed the sofa and engineered a custom set of sofa raisers to perfectly fit the existing metal feet. These raisers have given the sofa a 5-inch lift, which is just the right height to make sitting and standing much easier and safer for both Henry and Eve.

Now, their sofa is exactly what they need it to be: comfortable, accessible, and still stylish. Henry and Eve were absolutely delighted with the transformation.
