Brothers in Action: Team REMAP at the Great North Run

This past weekend, two of our incredible volunteers, Danny Rees and Simon Rees, proudly represented Team REMAP at the iconic Great North Run — and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Both Danny and Simon not only took on the physical challenge of the event, but they also smashed their fundraising targets, raising vital funds that will help us continue our mission of supporting disabled people across the UK through custom-made equipment and solutions.

As brothers, their achievement is one their family can be immensely proud of — and so are we.

Going the Distance — and Beyond

This year marked Danny’s third consecutive Great North Run fundraising effort for REMAP. Unfortunately, a knee injury meant he couldn’t complete the race this time — but he still put in some impressive miles and raised a fantastic amount for the cause!

Simon completed the run in under two hours — an incredible achievement! His efforts both on the track and behind the scenes make a lasting impact.

More Than Runners

Danny and Simon are both dedicated volunteer Engineers at our Cleveland branch, bringing their expertise to life-changing projects. Simon serves as the panel’s Secretary, while Danny takes on the role of Case Officer, working directly with clients to understand their needs and design bespoke solutions.

Their energy, compassion, and technical skill make a real difference every day — and their latest fundraising efforts are just another example of their incredible commitment.

So from all of us at REMAP: thank you, Danny and Simon. We hope you’re enjoying a well-earned week of rest and recovery — you’ve certainly earned it!
