Adjust height of bathroom hand-rail
Client requires a high, strong hand-rail in their bathroom to assist with showering.
The Challenge
Client’s arthritis has made showering harder and a handrail is required that can be reached from within the shower – the shower wall is low but is not suitable for use as a rail to assist stability while showering. An existing handrail was not suitable to take the client’s weight, since the supporting post was too low and the wall is a stud wall rather than masonry.
The solution
A strong rail just outside the shower wall has been adjusted by REMAP to be higher, braced to the floor allowing support for body weight and with an M10 threaded rod to pass through the stud wall and be fixed at the other side, giving much greater strength to the rail.
Here is the situation prior to the fitting of the hand-rail:

The benefit
The client can use the rail within the shower to assist standing and sitting – the rail is very strong and rigid, giving much greater peace of mind while showering.
