Bariatric stool with castor wheels
The client uses a wheelchair but this is too wide to fit through interior doorways in her home. She requires a stool with castor wheels that can help mobility, and will assist when she needs to carry items indoors.
The Challenge
The client’s wheelchair cannot fit through interior doors in her home. This makes mobility and carrying items in the home difficult. Some mobility aid is required for use in the home, the client initially suggested castors on a stool she had purchased.
The solution
The initial approach was to fix castors directly to a stool owned by the client but this proved to be too low. It was decided to attach the seat to a set of taller castors on a frame and raising the height to the right height for the client.

Free castors were chosen as more suitable than castors with a brake, as the latter were more likely to accidentally cause the seat to tip in use.
The benefit
The client’s mobility and safety around her home is increased.
