Aid for drummer

This lady plays drums at her local church. Unfortunately, her right foot had become too weak to operate either the bass or high hat pedals so, at her request, the pedals were changed over so that the left foot operated the bass drum.

We decided that a solenoid operated system would enable her to operate the high hat cymbal but could not find a single solenoid with the right combination of thrust and stroke so we created a triple solenoid unit that did.  A new foot pedal assembly was made with balanced rocker to operate a micro-switch energising the solenoid to operate the high hat.  The heavy spring in the high hat assembly was replaced by a lighter one. The unit is battery operated with indicator lights etc, and drumming is resumed!
