Baby crawling track
The client contacted REMAP as she needed a crawling track for her baby. The baby has Downs syndrome and a very low muscle tone. He is 8 months old and it is very very important for his development and his future therapies for him to crawl. The family are following the Doman method and need a crawling track but cannot find it for sale anywhere. The client stressed how important this is for their baby and his development, and offered to donate to other parents once they no longer need it.
The Challenge
The Doman method recommends the use of a crawling track to help babies with low muscle to develop their skills. There are published designs and dimensions but nothing commercially available. The track needed to be safe; easy to wipe clean; and padded so the baby did not injure himself.
The solution
The track is 1200mm long, 400mm wide and 150mm high; made from 18mm plywood purchased at B&Q who will cut to size. We made two identical tracks which can be used end to end. The boards are covered in a soft 10mm foam (purchased online) and then in a PVC tablecloth material (Dunelm). The layers have a light tack spray glue and are then stapled to the board.

The benefit
The client was delighted by the result, and gave permission for photos to be used on social media etc.
