Bed raisers
Our client has a timber bed with unusually large diameter legs that were unsuitable for commercial “elephant’s feet” raisers.
The solution
Gerry Van Hee, a member of the York, and the Harrogate/Ripon Remap groups, crafted attractive timber raisers which were finished to match the client’s decor.
The raisers comprise an elm wood base, rebated to fit over quadrant on the edges of the timber floor, such that the raisers sit right up against the skirting board, as there is very little space between the foot of the bed and the opposite wall. Strong painted timber boxes retain the solid timber cores to take the weight of the bed. Additional solid timber inserts were also made to ensure the height could be adjusted a little such that is was just right.
The raisers under construction.
Because the space on two sides of the heavy double bed was so severely limited, a hydraulic trolley jack and temporary supports were used to lift it safely.
The benefit
Our client was delighted with the result and the bed is now at a more appropriate height.
