Commode bowl extension
The client and client’s partner requested the forward extension of an existing commode to help containment and minimise spillages.
The Challenge
Client requires a forward extension of the bowl part of their bariatric commode to ensure hygienic collection. The existing bowl does not extend far enough forward and no commercial replacement is available.
The solution
A new Ikea sink bowl was adapted with 3D printed plastic parts and stainless steel connections to the dimensions required to fit the existing rails in the commode, but offering the forward coverage the client requires. The new larger bowl is a direct replacement for the existing smaller bowl, so is easy to fit.

The benefit
This will give the client more dignity when using the commode, since it allows better collection and hygiene in use.
