A new year 7 pupil has Androchorodroplasia and her OT and SENCO asked Remap to modify a school stool by adding a footrest.

The brief was to have a footrest 250mm from the seat and projecting 250mm from the stool frame. There was a requirement for 3 stools to save moving stool between classrooms

The Challenge

The footrest needed to slide and the client needed to be able to rest feet whist sitting.

The solution

The drawer slides enable footrest to slide out. A simple latch prevents the footrest returning. Latch can be released by lifting lever.

The benefit

The client, OT and SENCO were very pleased with the handy solution as the client is able to sit comfortably at school and rest their feet. This has made a significant difference. Now that their school chair has been adapted to their needs, they feel more able to concentrate and participate fully in their education.
