Treadmill Handrail Raiser
A client was working with a physiotherapist to complete their exercises on a treadmill, but the handrails were too low, causing pain and imbalance. To find a safe and comfortable solution, the client reached out to REMAP for help.
The Challenge
The client wanted to comfortably use a treadmill for their physiotherapy exercises. However, the treadmill handrail was too short for their height, causing imbalance and discomfort. As the treadmill was shared with other family members, the design needed to be easily removable.
The solution had to be height-adjustable, lightweight, and easy to install one-handed to suit the client’s needs.
The solution
The final design was a jigsaw-style, adjustable handrail extension. It uses stackable components to raise or lower the height, allowing the client to set their ideal position during an initial fitting session.
The device slides onto the existing handrail and secures in place with two thumb screws. This prevents damage to the foam grip and allows for easy installation or removal with one hand. Its lightweight, modular design makes it adaptable, user-friendly, and ideal for a shared household environment.
The benefit
The client felt much more comfortable with the extension and was happy with the ease of installation of the device.
