Adaptation to allow dog lead for very small dog to attach to four footed walking stick
The client has the use of only one hand and he needs to use a walking stick due to unsteadiness on his feet. He is currently holding the stick and a dog lead for his small dog when he goes out. He would like a way to attach the dog lead to the walking stick.
The Challenge
The client wants to be able to walk his small dog – his reliance on using a walking stick one-handed means this has been difficult as he has had to hold the dog lead in the hand he is using with his stick. The dog is very small and attaching the lead to the stick reduces the risk he has already been taking by holding the lead and stick together. Consideration has also been made for the safety of the dog, and it is considered unlikely that the dog would be able to pull the aluminium stick onto itself.
The solution
Brackets were fixed to the walking stick at the correct height to ensure the dog lead does not drag and create a trip-hazard. Two D-rings were attached to the stick allowing the lead to be attached as well as other very lightweight items.

The benefit
The client is able to walk his dog with greater grip on the walking stick and his hand is not encumbered by the dog lead. The dog is kept secure.
