Baby-proof cot latch
The client has a toddler who sleeps in a cot with an opening front door (a previous modification by Remap to assist the mother who has back problems). The child is now older, more adventurous and stronger so a more secure latch was needed. None suitable were found commercially.
The solution
A simple 90 degree operating latch was made from nylon plate with a machined slot for a spring loaded slider. In order to rotate the latch it is necessary to hold down the slide against a spring, i.e. two actions. Locking just requires the latch to be rotated which engages the slider without assistance.
