Nurse call buttons
Following on from a previous project we had undertaken within Harrogate District Hospital, Remap were approached by two other wards within the hospital who had entirely different nurse call button systems, where patients were experiencing similar issues.
These were:
A rehabilitation ward (typically supporting those recovering from neurological conditions) with an SAS Network II system and NET206 call buttons.
The ITU/ICU with an AidCall Touchsafe Pro system with pear shaped call buttons. A linen clip is available for the cable of these switches but not a proper cradle.
The solution
Engineer Dave White was able to 3D scan the two new types of call button, and develop two fully functioning prototype cradles which the hospital tested for suitability. Engineer Mike Johnson then took the prototype design and added different interchangeable attachment options depending on the nature of the difficulty being experienced – such as clothing clips, and clamps for bed side rails.
The benefit
Dave and Mike’s combined efforts and ideas resulted in a kit of parts to allow the wards to make up suitable call button cradles to suit the particular patient.
