Tablet computer flexi arm modification
Our client undertakes volunteer work himself but struggle to get the right position for his tablet computer to participate in conference calls when conducting them from his wheelchair which has a thin Perspex top.
The solution
Brian Wood of Harrogate/Ripon group took a simple commercial flexi-arm tablet computer desk stand, and made some modifications to the standard desk clamp. A block of milled engineering plastic lifts the whole clamp up, the clamping screw was shortened, and a replacement tommy bar makes it easier to clamp. These modifications keep the clamp clear of the support rail for the wheelchair top. Non-slip rubber membrane was glued to the bottom of the block and to the metal clamp screw plate so the solution doesn’t mark the Perspex.

The benefit
Our client can now adjust his tablet computer to suit.
