Tilted wheelchair footrest
A client with progressive multiple sclerosis uses a power wheelchair but her feet do not sit flat on the foot plates which causes discomfort and spasms. She requires the foot plate to be adapted to support her feet correctly. An angled platform was made to sit securely on the existing foot plate.
The Challenge
A client with progressive multiple sclerosis uses a power wheelchair but her feet do not sit flat on the foot plates which causes discomfort and spasms. She requires the foot plate to be adapted to support her feet correctly.
The solution
An angled platform was made to sit securely on the existing foot plate. Lugs on the underside hold the platform in place without damaging the footplate. It can be installed and removed easily and without tools. Wedges on the platform surface allow limited independent adjustment of the angle of each foot.

The benefit
The client can now sit comfortably.
