The client has epilepsy and wanted to ensure the safety of her babies, should she feel a seizure coming on. An emergency brake was provided for her double pram which engages should she release the handlebars

The Challenge

Wants to automatically apply the pram brakes if the client lets go of the handlebars when they feel a seizure coming on.

The solution

A one-handed brake lever was designed to fit on the pram handlebars and was printed in PLA material. The brake handle operated the rear two wheel brakes when released. In normal operation the brakes are held released by applying pressure to the handle. When the handle is released, the brakes operate by extending two spring-loaded plungers which engage with the pram wheel spokes.

The benefit

Safe stopping of the pram if the client has a seizure, ensuring the safety of her babies.
