Our client, Tony, whose right arm has been amputated, uses a four-wheeled walker with his left hand. He experiences difficulty controlling the walker, as he is only able to apply the brake on the left rear wheel. Following an Occupational Therapist assessment, it was decided to approach REMAP.

The Challenge

Tony is currently having difficulty controlling his walker, severely limiting his mobility. David, an experienced REMAP volunteer, came up with a simple but impressive solution and fitted a proprietary cable splitter.

The solution

The double brake action was achieved by fitting a proprietary cable splitter. The cable from the left-hand brake lever was located in the top of the splitter and the cables to both brakes entered the bottom and the inner cable cores were connected to the moving part within the cylinder of the splitter.

The benefit

Job done, quickly and efficiently, helping Tony remain mobile.
